A video is too large to share. A page needs straightening before it becomes a PDF. An audio clip is too quiet. These small jobs can send you between several apps. Muddi brings video, photo, audio and document tools into a single place, with processing performed on your phone.
Start with a smaller video.
In the Video workspace, choose a clip and review compression settings. Muddi exports H.264 video in an MP4 container, with presets for different file-size priorities and custom controls for resolution, bitrate, frame-rate caps and audio. Trim the clip to keep the section you need.
Target-size options are useful when working toward a sharing limit. Treat them as a target rather than a guarantee: source complexity and device encoders affect the final size. Muddi checks the completed output and can offer a lower-bitrate retry or let you explicitly keep a larger result.
User-started video exports run through a foreground service with a progress notification and a cancellation action. Android time limits still apply. Interrupted work restarts from the beginning rather than resuming partway through an encode. For a small batch, queue up to two videos and process them sequentially.
Give your photos a fresh direction.
The photo workspace includes JPEG compression and crop, rotate, flip and resize tools. JPEG has no transparency, so transparent images are flattened onto white when using the image compressor.
For cutouts, the background tool uses a local algorithm that compares colors near the image edges and removes connected background areas. It is not a general-purpose AI subject detector. Clear separation between subject and background helps; detailed hair, similar colors and busy scenes can require adjustment.
Use the manual erase and restore brushes to repair the mask. Keep a transparent PNG or replace the background with a solid color, gradient, another selected photo or a bundled design. Check the preview and output dimensions before saving.
An audio editor with its own workspace.
Audio extraction and enhancement are separate tools. Extraction takes the soundtrack from a selected video and saves M4A audio. The enhancer opens audio files directly and provides playback and seeking so you can hear your adjustments.
Its controls include loudness strengths, bass adjustment and voice-pitch presets such as Deep, Natural, Bright and Chipmunk. The export applies the chosen processing to a new M4A. These are sound-shaping controls; they do not reconstruct lost detail or promise studio-grade noise removal. Strong settings can introduce audible changes, so listen before keeping the result.
From loose pages to a shareable document.
Import page images or launch the installed camera app from Document Scanner. Adjust four corners manually, rotate a page, reorder pages and apply filters including Scanner, Black & white, Color scan and Grayscale. Before/after comparison helps you judge whether faint details are being preserved.
Save a PDF or individual JPEG and PNG images. The photo tools support documents of up to 30 pages, with bounded image resolution to control memory use. These are image-based PDFs: there is no OCR, searchable text, automatic page-boundary detection or book dewarping. Keep Muddi open while scanner and photo exports finish.
Save a copy. Keep the original.
Muddi writes new output files. Videos go to Movies/MuddiEnhancer, audio to Music/MuddiEnhancer, pictures to Pictures/MuddiEnhancer and PDFs to Downloads/MuddiEnhancer. Open and Share use Android’s app chooser.
Status Saver is another utility: after you connect an appropriate status folder, it can copy accessible local WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business photos and videos. It cannot restore expired statuses. Copies retain existing metadata; save or share other people’s content only with permission. Muddi is not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta.
Local processing, with a clear services disclosure.
The selected media is processed on-device rather than uploaded by Muddi for editing. That does not make the entire app network-free: it includes Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Cloud Messaging. Technical usage information, diagnostic reports and notification identifiers can be processed by Google. The current app has no sign-in system or ad-serving SDK.
Read the Muddi privacy policy for the data categories, permissions, retention details and your choices. Cloud-backed files may also be downloaded by the provider you select, and destination apps have their own policies when you share.
- Choose the tool and file you need.
